Remember that New Year’s resolution you set so many months ago? Or the one you were afraid to set? For the new house, better health or more meaningful relationship? It’s never too late to make a change, but nothing changes unless you take control. This can still be the year you start living the life you want. Start by applying these five tips.

Live a life that is true to you
What is the life you imagine? And what needs to change? Family? Then make that the priority. Is it skill building? Tackle an online class in a skill you need or want to explore. Is it where you live or who you share your life with (or want to share your life with)? Chart one bold step toward change. Don’t let fear stop you from the life you want.

Measure your time
Once time is spent, it’s gone. Think of it as currency and manage it like money. If you tracked your time, what would you discover about how you spend that limited resource? Change the allocation and budget time toward accomplishing the change you want. Changing your life requires changing how you spend your time.

Focus on your people
Who are the people you care about most? Who do you impact, and who impacts you? These are the people that matter, so shift the balance of your time in their favor. You’ll be a better friend, partner and human and you’ll feel stronger and be more impactful.

Look the part
Heard the phrase, “Dress for the job you want”? The same is true for the life you want. It may seem shallow, but dressing the part actually puts you in the mindset to be brave and ready for change.

Find your inspiration
Where do you feel your soul breathe? Where do you feel hopeful? Find the place where you can see the bigger picture and change your perspective. Make it a point to go there regularly. It’s important to revive your spirit. We want to make a difference with our lives and do something meaningful. That probably means changing something in your life or your thinking, so be brave and intentional and start making a change today!
